Resume Checker

Grades the writing rather than the layout: which bullets carry a number and which are only a claim, which ones open with a passive phrase, and whether your section headings are names a parser will actually index.

Why the file, not pasted text

The faults that break applicant tracking systems are structural — columns, headers, text inside images. Pasting your resume as plain text destroys exactly that evidence, because pasting is the parsing step that failed.

Your file never leaves this device. The whole operation runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded, queued on a server, or deleted later, because nothing was ever sent.

Why use it

Built to be genuinely useful

Bullets graded one by one

Every bullet is marked as evidence or claim, so you can see exactly which lines are doing no work for you.

Passive openers named

Lines beginning “responsible for”, “worked on” or “involved in” are quoted back individually rather than summarised as a vague warning.

Headings a parser reads

Checks your section names against the ones tracking systems recognise, and tells you which invented heading is hiding the content beneath it.

Nothing is uploaded

The file is read in your browser, so a resume carrying your address and phone number never reaches a server.

How it works

Three steps

  1. 1

Add your resume as a PDF or DOCX, or paste the text.

  2. 2

Read the bullets marked unquantified — those are the lines a recruiter skims past.

  3. 3

Rewrite them around the number that made the work matter, then check the score again.

A number is evidence, everything else is a claim

A bullet counts as quantified when it contains any digit that is not a bare year. That exclusion matters: every line in an employment history carries 2021 or 2024, and a date is not a result. Counting years would score a resume of pure duties as though it were full of proof.

Compare two versions of the same job. “Responsible for managing the vendor payments process” tells a recruiter nothing about scale or outcome. “Cut vendor payment cycle time from 18 days to 6 across ₹2.4 crore of annual spend” says the same thing with three numbers, and only the second survives a thirty-second skim.

The check fires when fewer than three in ten bullets carry a number. That threshold is deliberately low. Some lines genuinely have nothing to count — a certification, a language, a tool you own. The problem is the resume where nothing at all is measured, because then every claim rests on the reader taking your word for it.

The opening words decide how a bullet reads

Openers are judged on how the line starts, which sounds crude until you have read a hundred resumes. “Responsible for”, “duties included”, “assisted with” and “participated in” all describe a job description rather than what you did with it. They are the words people reach for when they are quietly copying the posting they applied against.

The fix is not a thesaurus. Turning “responsible for building” into “built” only helps if the rest of the line then says what the building achieved. Verbs like led, shipped, reduced, migrated and negotiated score well because each implies a change you can attach a number to, which is why the two checks are worth reading together.

Headings the parser has to recognise

A tracking system works out which part of your resume it is reading by matching headings against a list it already knows. Everything under a recognised heading is filed as experience, education or skills. Everything under an unrecognised one is filed nowhere, which is how a fifteen-year career ends up looking blank in a search.

“Where I've Made an Impact”, “My Journey” and “What I Bring” are the ones that come up most, usually from a template sold as modern. They read well to a person and are invisible to the machine. “Work Experience”, “Education” and “Skills” are dull, and dull is what gets indexed.

Indian hiring adds a second reader. Most applications arrive through Naukri, an internal portal or a campus placement system, and the recruiter searches that database rather than opening files one at a time. Your resume has to be findable before it can be judged, and the heading is what makes the line beneath it findable.
