Does this use ChatGPT or a similar model?

No. Relevance is computed statistically in your browser, and answers are sentences copied from your document. Nothing is sent to any service.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. It is read and converted by your browser, on your machine. Load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works — which is the simplest way to prove it to yourself.

Can it answer questions the document does not cover?

No, and that is intentional. If the answer is not in your document, you get nothing rather than a plausible invention.

What this is, and what it is not

It is a question-answering tool over your document that responds with the document's own sentences. Ask about the notice period and you get the sentences that mention it.

It is not a conversation with a language model. There is no model, no API key and no request leaving the page — which is exactly why it can be pointed at a contract, a payslip or a medical letter.
