The Challenge
Confidence without evidence
An assistant that answers instantly is easy to build and hard to trust. The brief was a workspace where a team could act on a generated answer without re-reading every source to check it.
That made verification a first-class task rather than a link at the bottom of a response.
The Approach
How we worked
Make the source visible
Every generated claim carries the passage it came from. Hiding the citation was never one of the options the interface offered.
Draft, never decide
The model proposes; the person accepts, edits or discards. No generated content enters a shared document without an explicit action.
Design the waiting state
Generation takes time, so the wait was designed as part of the product — streaming output, visible progress, and a cancel that actually cancels.
Keyboard before mouse
The people who would live in this all day drove the shortcut model, which was specified before the visual design was finished.
The Solution
An assistant that shows its working
The workspace splits into a document and a conversation. Anything the assistant asserts is anchored to a highlighted passage, and clicking the claim scrolls the evidence into view.
Accepted output arrives as a tracked suggestion rather than finished text, so the edit history records what a person approved rather than what a model produced.

The phone layout is not the desktop one squeezed down. Density, hit areas and reading order are decided per screen, and the interface keeps its meaning at both ends.
